Gibraltar Karate-Do Shotokai Club

Introduction

Our Sensei and chief instructor is Mitsusuke Harada who in 1943 attended his first lesson at Master Gichin Funakoshi's  dojo 'The Shotokan'. He has trained with many notable Masters including Master Motonobu (Genshin) Hironishi Master Yoshitaka Funakoshi Master Shigeru Egami,  Master Wado Uemura, Master Yoshiaki Hayashi and Master Tadao Okuyami.

Harada Sensei visits our dojo at least once a year to instruct at our Summer Courses.

Fellow martial artists, regardless of style, are always welcome to our club, to join in with our practice sessions, or after training, join us in our bar and discuss the finer points of the art.

The Dojo

The Dojo is well equipped with several Bokken and Bo, two Makiwara, a good selection of blocking pads and gloves, and four hanging punch bags. Due to the location of the supporting columns of the building the Dojo is divided into four interconnecting areas.

The Dojo has male and female changing rooms, complete with showers.

The Bar

By having our own bar facilities the club can hold its meetings, functions, parties, etc, on the premises. The bar is also used on a regular basis by members after practice.

The excellent bar facilities also allow members to demonstrated their culinary prowess.
